Informations taken this Twenty seventh day
of June 1766 at the Parish of St. Ann within the
Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex
on an Inquisition touching the Death of Hester
Heerlin lying Dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County

Ann Poppin< no role > of Marshall Street Carnaby Market in the
Parish of St. James Westmr. on her Oath saith, that she was
recommended as a Nurse to Hester Heerlin< no role > the Deced, and
that she went to the Deced's House in Porter Street in the Parish
of St. Ann Westminster yesterday Morning, between Eight and Nine o Clock Says that the
Deced told her that she did not want a Nurse, but that the Dept
must stay with her until her Husband came home, who was
gone to be dipped in the Salt Water he having been bit by
a Mad Dog adding that the same Dog had likewise bit there
Toe or her That and the Dog was hanged by [..] Says that they breach field
together in the Parlour, Says that the Deced sent this
Dept. to buy some Peas which a Man was crying in the
Street, Says that she went to the Door leaving the Deced in
the Back Parlour, Says that she was obliged to go to get a Shilling
changed across the Street and returned into the House in
about a Quarter of an hour, when she found the Door
of the Back Parlour locked, upon which she went about
the House looking for the Deced, and acquainted the Family
that the Deced was Missing, Says that she immediately
after run out to a Neighbour's House in the same Street
and returned in a few Minutes, Says that very soon after
she heard somebody Scream out in the Kitchin, upon
which she went down Stairs and saw the Deced lying
on the Kitchin Floor in her Clothes which were very wet
a great deal of Water upon the Floor and a Tub rolled out
into the Passage at the Foot of the Kitchin Stairs Says that
she took hold of Deceds hand, and believes that the Deced
was then Dead, as the Pursed much at theMonthNorsed Says that
the Deced yesterday Morning while she was at Break fast
rubbed her Hands, and threw herself down on the Floor and
was going to tear her Clothes, Says that the Deced complained
that she could not bear her Troubles & that she was very
uneasy and Dept. thought that she was then Disordered in
her Senses
