Information taken this Ninth day of May 1766 at the
Parish of St. Margaret within the Liberty of Westmr. in the
County of Middlesex on an Inquisition touching the Death
of Frances Gardner< no role > lying Dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Joseph Byer< no role > [..] a Lodger at the Queens Head in
Knights Bridge in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr .
Cooper, on his Oath saith, That on Wednesday last
about six o'Clock in the Afternoon this Deponent
was walking in Hyde Park , when a Gentleman
(whose name Dept. does not know) said that he saw
a Woman Pluge into the Serpentine River on the
other side upon which Dept. ran over the Bridge there
and saw the Deced in the River, her Head being above
water, Says that he immediately stripped off her Cloaths
and went into the River, and seven to the swarm to the Deced who
was bout twenty Yards from the Shore, Says that he got
hold of the Deced and pulled her to Shore, Says that he
observed no Signs of Life in the Deced and Dept. believes
that she was [..] then Dead, Says that there were several
People about the Deced, and that one of the Gentleman
Bled her in the Temple . Says that he did not know the
Deced, and that he then went to acquaint the Beadle
in Knightsbridge that a Woman was Drowned in Hyde
Park , in order to have her fetched away, And this Dept.
further Says, that by the desire of the Gentleman , he S [..] ed
the Deced's Pocket, in their presence, and there in the Corner of
a Handkerchief, tied up; found half a Guinea, half a
Crown and three Shillings, and a Sleave Button, Says
that he likewise found in her Pocket a House Wife, a
pair of Spectacles in a Cate, a Seissars, a pair of Worsted
Gloves, and a Hankercheif.
