Informations taken this 26th. day of February
1762 in the Parish of St. George Hanover Squares
within the Liberty of Westmr . on View of the Body of Katherine Fortescue< no role > an Infant
then and there lying Dead.

Simon Woolwick< no role > Chelsea Labourer on his Oath saith, that being
at work at the Chelsea Water Works on Thursday last, hewasheard about
one o'Clock on that day some Person ory out that a Child was
Drowned in the Water above Chelsea Bridge, upon which here
to the Place with a Hitcher in his hand in order to draw the Persondecedout, when
he was informed it was Katherine Fortescue< no role > the Deced, Says that
a Person who stood there (whose Name Deponent knows not)
said that he observed the Water Clabbered, and believed the
deced might be sunk there, says that he gave the Hitcher to
the said Man unknown, who pulled the Deced out of the Water
with said Hitcher, and laid Deced upon the Bank close by the
Water side, says that he is certain Deced was then Dead, Deponent
says that the Deced was afterwards put upon a Chair, and
that he assisted to carry her to Mr. John Allen< no role > , a Publick House
in the Neighbourhood where Deced Now lies. And that he know
the Deced.
