September 1762 at the Parish of
Saint Martin to the Fields within
the Liberty of Westminstr in the County
of Middx upon an Inquisition on

there lying dead.

Tavern [..] Saint Martins Lane on his Oath
Saith a Gentleman a Stanger to Dept. Came to
the said Tavern about Nine o'Clock last Wednesday
to go their with deced says they were admitted into
a private Room. and had a pint of port was
which Dept. brought to them, says that the
deced appeared to Deponent to be well when
she came to the Tavern says that in about
a Quarter of an hear after they came to the sd
Tavern the Gentleman lastly rang the Bell
upon which Dept. went directly into the Room
where her deced were, and found the deced lying
a long the Floor upon her Back, says that
he raised the deced from the Ground, but she
and not move and appearing black about the
Seps be thought the deced was dying; and informed
the Gentleman that he believed the deced was not
a Fit but dying says that upon the People
of the Tavern being very being and not able to
go, the Gentleman went out himself and fetcher
some Harts born as dept. believes he seeing some
on the Table in a Cruett. says thataboutafter
leaving the Room for about twenty Minutes he
returned and found the deced as he apprehends
worse, says he went directly to his Mistress, Inds
Done and told her that he believed the woman was dead
