Informations of Witnesses taken this 25th. day of
August 1762 . on an Inquisition on View of the Body
of Alexander Mearnes< no role > lying dead in the Parish of
St. Margaret in the City and Liberty of Westminster .

George Halfburton Nicholson< no role > of [..] Strutton Ground in the Parish of
St. Margaret Usher to Mr. Mearnes on his Oath saith that Yesterday Afternoon
he and Deced being walking in the Park, and Deced proposed
going to Row in Q Boat belonging to Mr. Morton in Channel
Row, says that Deced asked a Person who was in Mr. Morton
Boat, to let him have the Boat, but deced being asked whether
he had the Key of the Boat, which Deced had not, but said he
would fetch it, and in going for it to Mr. Morton in
stepping over some Barges then floating on the River Thames in a place called
WilkinsonMorton'sWharf in the said Parish of St. Margaret , Deced
Missed his Stop (as Deponent believes) and fell into the Thomas
says that he saw Deced in the Water and believes he sucked
under the Barge by the force of the Water, says that in
about half an hour after Deced was taken out of the Water
and a Person attempted to Bleed him, but Deced bled very
little, and Deponent believes Deced was then Dead.
