That your Petitioner was by an Order of the General Quarter Session of the<lb></lb>
Peace for the said City and Liberty appointed by your Worships to the keeping<lb></lb>

<p n="249">That the Sum of Fifty pounds Per Annum has been constantly received by<lb></lb>
your Petitioners predecessors from the several Parishes in the said City and<lb></lb>
Liberty until the Act of Parliament made in the Twelfth year of the Reign of<lb></lb>
His late Majesty King George the Second Intituled an Act for the more Easy<lb></lb>
Assessing Collecting and levying of County rates Whereby it was among<lb></lb>
other things Enacted that the <rs type="occupation" id="LMWJPS65485_occ78">Justices of the Peace</rs>

for the said City and Liberty<lb></lb>
shall have the full power to Appoint the Governor or Master of the said<lb></lb>

Prisoners in his Custody who should be sick and unable to Work not<lb></lb>
Exceeding the then Allowance of Fifty pounds by the year And the <rs type="occupation" id="LMWJPS65485_occ79">Treasurer</rs>

is required to Obey all Orders which shall be<lb></lb>

of the said City and Liberty or the greater<lb></lb>
part of them Assembled in their General Quarter Session, for the payment<lb></lb>
of any Sum or Sums of Money for the Allowance Allotted to such Governor<lb></lb>

or Maintenance of such poor Prisoners (Except the Allowances from<lb></lb>

same to Christmas last the Sum of Twenty and Five pounds</p>

to Order Mr. Jefferson the Treasurer of the <rs type="placeName" id="LMWJPS65485_geo127">County of Middlesex</rs>
