The Humble Petition of the Presidents
Treasurers and Governors of the said
Hospitals respectively assembled at Courts
held for the said Hospitals respectively
that is to say, at Saint Bartholomew's on
the 24th.. day of Novr.. 1779, at Christ's
Hospital on the 26th.. day of the same
Novr.., at Bridewell Hospital on the 25th..
day of the same Novr.. and at Saint
Thomas's Hospital on the 3d.. day of Decr..
instant, pursuant to Orders of the said
Courts respectively then made and
Ordained.

Sheweth,


That by Grant or Letters Patent dated 13th..
January 38th. King Henry the 8th.. the same King Granted
to the Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens of the City
of London (in pursuance of an Indre bearing date the
27th.. day of December preceding such Letters Patent
made between his said Majesty King Henry the 8th..
and the said Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens)
among other things All the late Hospital of Saint
Bartholomew in West Smithfield next London
to be a place and House for the Poor there to be
ordained and to be called the House of the Poor
in West Smithfield next London of the foundation
of King Henry the 8th.. and divers Manors
Messuages lands tenements and Hereditaments
in the City of London and in the Counties of
Middlesex, Essex, Bucks, Northampton Somerset
Oxford and Hertford therein particularly
mentioned with such Powers as are therein
