On Saturday the 31st. last Month at the usual hour of
locking up Russel the Turnkey went into the North [..]
where the 9 Mutineers refer'd to in the answered pap [..]
were Confined under his Charge to lock them up, he
did lock them up as he conceived in the different [..]
allotted for the purpose as numbered from 1 [..]
by locking barring and bolting the Several [..]
doors.

On Sunday the 1st. Instant at the Ringing of [..]
the Bell at 6 in the Morning he went to the
same yard in order to unlock the said Cells [..]
let the 9 Mutineers out that they might wash
themselves Etc and receive their Bread for the day
When to his great surprize on opening the yard
door he found several of the Cell doors open and on
going to Cell No. 9 he found the lock had been
forced of the door, and the prisoners Cloaths
scatter'd about the yard

That his astonishment was so great at the
instant he did not search further but lock'd the
Yard door and with the greatest Expedition
Communicated to his fellow servants that all the
sailors in the north front yard had got away
he then went to the Governors house and rang [..]
the Night Bell and informed the Governor that [..]
of the Mutineers had made their Escape on [..]
the Governor went and Examined the real State
of the Cells

On the Governors entering the Yard he [..]
5. of the Cell doors broke open which were Cells 1. 3. [..]
7 and 9-finding and found in Cell. 2. Hughes [..]
on questioning of whom Hughes denied and still
denies a knowledge of the Escapethe Governor
then ordered Cell 4 to be opened which was
Davis's on going into which he supposed from
