<p n="351">before any Coercive Measures mere used to reduce the Prisoners<lb></lb>
to a sense of their Duty That in consequence he did attend<lb></lb>
the said Prison forthwith where he found the Prisoners in <lb></lb>
Mutinous and disorderly state in the Chapel That he inquired<lb></lb>
whether they had any just cause of Complaint and desired<lb></lb>
any Person who thought himself aggrieved to stand forth and <lb></lb>
state the cause of his Complaint but no person, stated<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
<lb></lb>
any Injury or hardship which they had personally suffered<lb></lb>
but that Collectively they had not all the Indulgencies<lb></lb>
afforded them by the Magistrates<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
that one or two of them<lb></lb>
stated that there was a deficiency in the Weight of Bread <lb></lb>
delivered which Complaint being examined into appeared to be taken<lb></lb>
unfounded. That he thereupon required them forthwith to<lb></lb>
depart to their respective Stations in an Orderly and quiet<lb></lb>
manner and that in consequence thereof the Prisoners returned<lb></lb>
execpting only 27. who refused to comply with his request and then<lb></lb>
the Governor was therefore obliged to use force to compel them</p>

Order and submission among the Prisoners and the inquirey<lb></lb>
he had made to discover the King leaders and who were the<lb></lb>
most active in encouraging the resistance and disorderly<lb></lb>
Conduct which had taken placeThat the Prisoners<lb></lb>
were now brought to a state of submission, behaved evilly<lb></lb>
and Appeared sorry for their Conduct.</p>
