Taken on Oath before one one of His Majesty's
Justices of the Peace
in and for the said County
this 27h. day of May 1795.
Who Saith That on the Seventeenth day of May Instant he
hired the Hackney Coach No. 442, which carried him to
his House in Charles Square
aforesaid That this
Informant offered the Prisoner Moses Julian< no role >
(the
Coachman
) for his Lace two Shillings which the Prisoner
Deceived of the Informant and turning his Back from
Informant seemed as if he offered to bite them, to try if they
were good shillings. That the Prisoner sounded them upon
the Coach Stop and then produced in his Hand the
Counterfeit Shilling now produced which he gave
Informant and said it was a bad shilling and
the same Informant had given him but Informant is
very positive both the shillings given by him to the
Prisoner were good shillings and that he changed
one of them for the said Counterfeit Shilling now
produced and that the Coachman tenderedtheand
[..] gave this Informant the same with intent
to cheat and defraud this Informant of one
Shilling.
