The Order of George Story< no role > Esqr. and John Staples< no role > Esqr.
Two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said
County, one whereof is of the Quorum, and both residing
next unto the Limits of the Parish Church within the Parish
of St. John of Wapping in the said County, made the
twenty seventh Day of October in the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and ninety four
concerning a Male Bastard Child, lately born of
the Body of Catherine Fogerty< no role > Spinster
an Inhabitant of the sd. Parish of St. John or Wapping

WHEREAS it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as
well upon the Complaint of the Church-wardens and Overseers
of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint John of Wapping, as upon the
Oath of the said Catherine Fogerty that she said Cathirine
Fogerty on or about the twenty first day of June last on or about theDay of
One Thousand Seven Hundred andin
about four Months ago
was delivered of a Male
bastard Child in Dr. Londers li [..] eed Lying In
Hospital in the Parish of Saint Saviour Southwark
in the County of Surrey which Child was afterwards
Corptized at the said Hospital bythe Name of Joseph< no role >
and that the said Bastard Child is become and is likely to continue chargeable to the said Parish
of Saint John of Wapping ; and further that Joseph Edmonds< no role > of
No.12 Bird Street in the Parish of Saint George in the County
oath did [..] Mastard and Commencedes of the Ship Hope lately [..] used from the Nest Mil [..]
did beget the said Bastard Child, on the Body of her the said Catherine
Forgerty And whereas the said Joseph Edmonds< no role > - and the
said Catherine Fogerty- have this Day personally appeared before us
pursuant to our Summons for that purpose: We therefore upon Ex-
amination of the Cause and Circumstances of the Premises, as well upon
the Oath of the said Catherine Fogerty as otherwise, as do hereby
adjudge him the said Joseph Edmonds< no role > to the reputed Father
of the said Bastard Child: And thereupon We do order as well for the
better Relief of the said Parish of Saint John of Wapping , as for the
Suftentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child; that the said Joseph
Edmonds
< no role > shall and do forthwith upon Notice of this our
Order, pay or Cause to be paid to the said Church-wardens and Overseers
of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint John of Wapping, or to some or
one of them, the Sum of One Pound and Sixteen th [..] for and towards the
Maintenance of the said Bastard Child to the Time of making this our
Order. And we do also hereby further order, That the said Joseph
Edmonds
< no role > shall likewise pay, or cause to be paid to the said
Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint
John of Wapping, for the Time being, or to some or one of them the
Sum of three Shillings weekly, and every Week, from the present
Time, for and towards the Keeping, Suftentation, and Maintenance of
the said Bastard Child, for and during of long Time as the said Bastard
Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Saint John of Wapping.
And we do further order, That the said Catherine Fogerty shall
also pay or cause to be paid to the said Church-wardens and Overseers
of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint John of Wapping, for the Time
being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Six pence
weekly, and every Week, so long as the said Bastard Child shall be
chargeable to the said Parish of saint John of Wapping, in Case the
shall not Nurse and take Care of the said Child herself. Given under
our Hands and Seals the Day and Year first above written.
