The Order of John Floud< no role > and William Browne< no role >
Esquires two of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace in and for the said County one whereof is
of the Quorum, and both residing next unto the Limits
of the Parish within the Parish of Saint Luke
in the said County
made the Second Day of May-One
Thousand seven Hundred and Ninety
four

concerning a Female
Bastard Child, lately born in the Parish of St Luke
in the County aforesaid, of the Body of
Eleanor Harding< no role > Single Woman .

WHEREAS it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
Saint Luke as upon the Oath of the said Eleanor Harding
that she the said Eleanor Harding< no role > on the Sixth Day of
March now last past, was delivered of a Female Bastard Child, at the House
of Mrs Lock in the said Parish of Saint Luke in the said
County and that the said Female Bastard Child islikely to bechargeable
to the said Parish of St Luke and further, that Robert Smith< no role >
late of [..] Vauxhall in thesaid County of Sury did beget the said
Bastard Child on the Body of her the said Eleanor Harding and Whereas
the said Robert Smith< no role > having been duly Summoned to appear
before us in Order to make his Defence to the said Charge
contained as above but not having shewn any Couse to the Contrary
We therefore, upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the Premises, as
well upon the Oath of the said Eleanor Harding< no role > as otherwise, do hereby
adjudge him the said Robert Smith< no role > to be the reputed Father of the
said Bastard Child.

And thereupon we do order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of
Saint Luke as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that
the said Robert Smith< no role > shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause it to be paid to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Saint Luke or to some or one of them, the Sum of 9 Shillings
for and towards theLiving in of the said Ele [..] H [..] Main-
tenance of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order.

And we do also hereby further order, that the said Robert Smith< no role > shall like wife
pay, or cause to be paid, to the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint Luke for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Two
Shillings and 6d- Weekly and every Week from the present Time, for and towards the
Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long
Time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Luke

And we do further order, that the saidshall also pay
or cause to be paid to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint Luke for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of
Weekly and every Week, so long as the said Bastard Child
shall be chargeable to the saidin case the shall not nurse
and take care of the saith Child hereself.

Given under our Hands and Seals the Day and Year first above Written.
