one of His Majesty's Justices of the peace
in and for
the said County this 22d. day of March 1793.
This Informant William Stone< no role >
on his Oath saith That last
Night the twenty second day of March Instantbetween
between seven and eight o Clock there were Feloniously Stolen
out of this Informants Barn at Cambridge Heath
aforesaid
four Bushel and upwards of Clover and Straw Chaff his
Property and further saith that he found part of the chaff
which was Stolen as aforesaid and now produced
in a Bin, in a Stable belonging to the Prisoner under

aforesaid whom he verily believes received the same of
the said James Chance< no role >
knowing that he had stolen
the same

in his Oath Saith
That he is Carter
and Servant
to the said William Stone< no role >
, that
the Prisoner under Examination has at three different
times persuaded him to steal Hay & Chaff from his
Master, that Yesterday the Prisoner met this Examination
and asked him to bring him sorne Chaff or a Tress of Hay
or any Thing else as his Horses had nothing to Eat,
His Examinant told him he was doubtful how he could
get at it, upon which the Prisoner made answer he
could do it in the Night when every thing was still
without any resque of discovery and persuaded him
to pull off his Jacket that he might not be known if any person
met him, this Examinant at last consented and
