that he had caused them to be called together in consequence of a Letter

the Secretary of State for the Home department
enclosing a Certificate of
the surgeon and apothecary to Clerkenwell Bridewell
and having laid the
Certificate and Letter before the Committee the same were Read as follows Vizt.

Sir,
Inclosed I transmit you by the Kings Command a Certificate of the
Surgeon and apothecary attending Clerkenwell Bridewell
of the ill state of
Health of several Prisoners confined in that Prison, and I am to desire that you
will immediately report to me for His Majestys Information a state of their
respective Cases, together with your Opinion how far they may be Objects
deserving his Majestys Mercy
