Take Notice that I shall Lodge my Petition of Appeal at the next General
Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be holden For the County of Middlesex at the Sessions
House on Clerkenwell Green against the Conviction by You made on the Sixteenth Day
of August last against me on an Information said to be Exhibited before You by the
above Named Respondent alledging that I did on the Second Day of July last unlawfull
expose to July and Sell to One Thomas White< no role > a certain Inclosure containing a
certain Cosmetick called Carmine to Wit at and for the Price of Sixpence the said
Curmine being a Cosmetick Subject to the Stamp Duty of One penny imposed and
Payable to his present Majesty by Virtue of a certain Act of Parliament made
and passed in the Twenty Sixth Year of the Reign of His Present Majesty entitled
an "Act For Granting to his Majesty Certain Stamp Duties on Perfumery Hair Powder
and other Articles therein mentioned and on Licences to be taken Out by Persons
Uttering or Vending the same" without the Cover Wrapper or Label dircted
by the said Act to be pasted Stuck Fastened or Affixed to the said Inclosure
containing the said Cosmetick called Carmine Previous to the Sale or exposing to
Sale thereof being well and Sufficiently pasted Struck fastned or Affixed to the
Said Inclosure and marked and Stamped with the Mark or Stamp provided
to be used by the Commissioners appointed to manage the Duties Charged on
Stamped Villum parchment and paper to denote the said Duty of One penny
in such manner as in and by the said Act is thereby directed and required
And Further make Notice that You are hereby requested to Return to the Clerk
of the Peace For the said County the said Conviction together with the Said Information
and all proceedings had thereon Dated the 19th. Day of October 1791.
