on the Prosecution of the Inhabitants
of the Hamlet of Mice End Old Town
for a Misdemeanor & Contempt

Thomas White< no role > late Constable of the Hamlet of Mile End
Old Town in the County of Middlesex maketh Oath That at
Easter last John Kent< no role > of the said Hamlet Gentlemen
was Elected and Chosen into the Office of Head borough [..] the
said Hamlet that being so Elected and Chosen into the
said Office [..] he the said John Kent< no role > [..] refuse to
lake his Oak for Executing the said Office for [..]
which Offence a Bill of Indictment was preferred and
found against him in July Session last And This
Deponent Further Saith that the said John Kent< no role > hath since
he was so Indicted procured and produced to the Officers
of the said Hamlet a certain Writ or Deed Issuing
out of His Majesty's Court of Exchequer purporting to
Exempt the said John Kent< no role > from serving the said
Office and all other Parochial Officers by reason of his
Employment in the Customs This Deponent further saith
that he is Advised and believes that the said John
Kent
< no role > is by Virtue of the said Writ and his Employment
in the Customs Exempt and not liable to
serve the said Office of Headborough And Lastly
this Deponent saith that it is the desire of the
Inhabitants of the said Hamlet at a public Tour
meeting Assembled that the prosecution against
the said John Kent< no role > for the Offence aforesaid may
be Stayed.

Sworn in Court at the Sessn. aforesaid
the 17th. day of Septr. 1787}
