HANOVER SQUARE , 11th June, 1787

SIR,

HIS Majesty having thought it expedient to Issue a new Procla-
mation directing the strict Execution of the Laws which have
been made, and are still in Force against the Profanation of the
Lord's Day, Drunkenness, Swearing, and Cursing, and other dis-
orderly Practices; and his Majesty's Pleasure having been signified
by Letter from the Right Honourable Lord Sydney, one of his
Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State. That the most early Op-
portunity should be taken to convene the Magistrates of this
County, in order to their pursuing the most effectual Methods
for putting the Laws in Execution, and for the prevention of
such dangerous Offences. In obedience to his Majesty's Commands,
I have appointed a Meeting of the Magistrates of this County,
to be holden at the Session-House, on Clerkenwell-Green , on Wednes-
day the 20th Day of this Instant June, at One o' Clock, where the
Favour of your Attendance is requested.
