Mr. Chairman Stated to the Ct. that he with swt. other of his
Majs. I of the P had lately examd. the New prison at Clerkenwell
and the Keeper House and also the Tap House adjourning thereto.
That the tap House adjorns the Wall of the Prisoner and
is situated between the keeper House the Prison so as totally
to prevent the keeper his overlooking the sd: Prison or being acquainted
with what is transacting thereinwhen he is in the House
allotted for his Habitation

That there is a are two Holes in the Wall bet. The
Prison and the Tap House thro which Liquour is
continually conveyed for the prisrs. & others in the prison wheek is in
effect having a Tap House within the prison which
they conceive to be highly inproper and contrary to the Law now in
being respicting the managment of prison
That in order to give the keeper a more proper Communant
with the prison and that he may at all times [..]
be able to overlook the same and also in order that so great
a Nusance to the Prison as the Tap which Communcates
there with may be removed It is the Unanimous
Opinion of the Magistrates who vieved & examined the
same That the sd Tap Thos. be [..] discontined
and made a part of the Keeper House and that a
Window or other proper opening be made therefrom
to look into the Prison.
