To the Worshipful His Majesty's Justices of
the Peace for the County of Middlesex at the
General Quarter Session of the Peace for the
said County Assembled

The humble Petition and Appeal of
The Reverend Francis Willis< no role > Doctor of
Physick Rector of the Parish of Saint
John of Wapping in the County of Middlesex

Sheweth.


That by a rate or Assessment made for the
Relief of the Poor of the said Parish of St. John Wapping
on the 28th. day of September lastYour Petitioner was
Assessed at the Sum of £5. per One Quarter of a Years
Rate towards such Relief for and in respect of the
Income of the Rectory of the said Parish

That the Income of the said Rectory Consists
principally in the Sum of £130a Year paid by
Virtue and under the Direction of a certain Act of Parliament
made in the2d. Yeare of the Reign of his late Majestyfifth and sixth Years of the Reign of King
King George the second For working the Hamlet [..] William and Queen Mary Intituted An Act for [..]
Wapping & Stepney in the parish of St. Dunston [..] a new Parish to be called the parish of Saint John of
[..] Stepneyin the County of MiddlesexWapping within the County of Middlesex
a distinct Parish and for Providing a Maintenance
for a Minister of the New Church there

That your Petitioner or any of his Predecesson
have never before been charged towards the Relief of the Poor of
the said Parish for and in respect of the said Sum
of £130.

That your Petitioner apprehends he is not liable
to be Assessed towards the said Relief in any Sum of
