Session in Middlesex
13th. Janry 1785}

St Mary Lambeth in SurreyAppellts.
and
St. James Westminster in Middlesex Respondts.

For the Appellts.

This is an Appeal agt. an Order of Removal under the Hands & Seals of Wm. Gowan< no role >
-John Clarke< no role > Esqrs. two Magistrates for the County of Middlesex dated the 8th. day of
December 1784 whereby Alice Hatton< no role > als Ann Hatton< no role > was Removed from St. James -
Westminster to Lambeth as the place of her Settlement.

First the Appellts. object to the form of this Order of Removal and Apprehend it must be
Quash't for the following Reasons

The Order states That Complaint hath been made to the Justices by the Churchwardens &
Overseers of the poor of the parish of Saint James That Alice Hatton< no role > hath lately intruded
& come into the sd Parish & is likely to become Chargeable, and then the Justices Adjudge the
place of the last legal Settlement of Ann Hatton< no role > to be in the parish of Lambeth and
Order Ann Hatton< no role > to be Removed from St. James's to Lambeth

The Appellants would not have Appealed against this Order on the Ground of this
Mistake alone but they Apprehend the Merits of the Case are with them & that they
have nothing to do with the Pauper.
