The above Deft stand Indicted for a Conspiracy and Fraud
in Obtaining from the above Thos. Cussans< no role > 3 Several Notes of
Hand value £1000 under the pretence of Discounting the Same
but instead of Giving him the Money as they promised to 80. They Gave
him of their own Notes Derted 28th: March 1783 at 12 days after date
which they told him wered as good as Money or Bank Notes The above
persons lately Set up a Money Office No. 77 Chairing Cross & used to
Advertise in the Morning Papers to Advance Money to Noblemen Gentlemen
a persons of Repute upon their Own Security & to discount Bills at 5 P
Cent that under Such pretences they Obtained from said Mr. Cussans who
is [..] Gent . of very Considerable For time the above 3 Notes wch is all
Dated 28th. March at Dift. period vat a Few days after they had got
the said Notes they shut up their pretended Money Office &hath kept
Absconded therefrom with the said notes in their possession & wch Office
hath been Shut up ever Since & upon full Inquiry into the Characters
of the above sevl. psomd who call themselves proprietors of said Office
they turn out to be a set of Notorious Swindlers Lord Offenders in this
Kind of Business & as the Grand Jury hath found the Bill of Indictment
please to move the Count for a Bench Warrt. agt. All the parties
to Hold them to Bail & that such Bail May be Referred to thePaper
Sitting Majestrates at the Rotation Office in Litchfield Street & that
they may give 48 Hours notice to Mr. Saml. Leigh< no role > Sollr. for the
prosecution at his Chambers No.9 Inner Temple Lane in order that he
May make the Necessary Enquiry into their Sufficiency.
