AND WHEREAS the said several Damages and Costs of the said several Plaintiffs, so
recovered as aforesaid, and the said just and necessary Expences of the said several Inha-
bitants of the said Hundred in defending such Actions, amount together to the Sum of
Nineteen Thousand Six Hundred and Thirty Pounds Fifteen Shillings.

We the said William Mainwaring< no role > , and the Reverend Sir George Booth< no role > , Justice as afore-
said, according to the Directions of the said several Statutes in Such Case made and pro-
vided, have assessed, taxed, rateably and proportionably, all and every the Towns,
Parishes, Villages, Hamlets, and Places, as well of the said Hundred as the Liberties
within the said Hundred, to and towards an equal Contribution to be had and made for
the Relief of the several Inhabitants of the said Hundred, against whom the said several
Executions have been obtained, and for Payment thereof, and also for Payment of the
said several just and necessary Expences which the said Several Inhabitants of the said
Hundred have been at in defending the several Action aforesaid, and do hereby affets
and tax

AND we do hereby require and command you,
the Constable aforesaid, forthwith rateably and proportionably to Tax and Assess, accord-
ing to their Abilities, every Inhabitant and Dweller in you said
for and towards the Payment of such
as aforesaid, by Us the said

Taxation and Assessment, made upon the said
Justices, and to levy and collect within your said

above specified, taxed and assessed upon the same as aforesaid, within Thirty Days
from the Date hereof; and do hereby also further require and command you, within
Ten Days after you shall have levied and collected the said sum of

of Taxed as aforesaid, and hereby order to be levied and collected upon the Inhabitants
and Dwellers in your said to pay and deliver the same by Virtue of this Warrant,
subject to the Uses an Purposes in the several Statutes relating thereto, mentioned and
appointed, to the Governor and Company of the Bank of England , in the joint Names
of us the said William Mainwaring< no role > and Sir George Booth< no role > , as Justices aforesaid, and William
Gill< no role > , Esquire , and William Nicholson< no role > , Esquire, Sheriff of the said County of Middlesex ,
taking a Receipt or Receipts of the said Governor and Company, or their proper Officer,
who shall receive the same on their Account; which Receipt or Receipts shall be your
sufficient Discharge for the Money of paid by you, as aforesaid:

In Testimony whereof, We the said Justices have hereunto set our Hands and
Seals, the day of February, in the Year of our Lord
One thousand seven Hundred and Eighty-two.

N.B.-By the 27th Eliz. C. 13. S..5. It is enacted, That if any Inhabitant of any such
Town, Parish, Village, or Hamelet, shall obstinately refuse and deny to pay the said Tax-
ation and Assessment, so by the said Constables, Constable, Headboroughts, or Headbo-
rough taxed and assessed, that then it shall and amy be lawful to and for the said Con-
stables and Headboroughs , and every of them, within their several Limits and Jurisdictions,
to distrain all an every Person and Persons so refusing and denying, by his and their
Goods and Chattles, and the same Distress to sell, and the Money thereof coming to re-
tain to the Use aforesaid; and if the Goods or Chattles, so distrained and sold, shall be
of more Value then the said Taxation shall com unto, that then the Residue of the said
Money, over and above the said Taxation, shall be delivered unto the said Person or
Persons so distrained.

By the 8th George II. Cap. 16. S. 10 It is enacted, That if any such Officer or Officers
who are to levy and collect such Taxations and Assessments as aforesaid, shall refuse or
neglect to levy and collect the same, within such Time as shall be refuse or neglect to pay
by the said Justices of the Peace for their doing thereof, or shall refuse or neglect to pay
and deliver over the Sums of Money, so levied and collected, to the said Sheriff, and also
to the said Justices, in such Manner as the same in the several Cases herein before men-
tioned are respectively directed to be paid, within the respective Times herein before li-
mited for such Payment thereof, every such Officer shall, for every such Refusal or Neg-
lect, forfeit double the Sum appointed to be by him levied and collected, as aforesaid.
