Your Committee further Report it appears to them
that Tothill fields Bridewell is a Prison situate in the parish of St. Margaret
within the City of Westminster , and that Whitechapel Goal is a small Goal
situate in the parish of St. Mary Whitechapel in the County of Middlesex
belonging to the Manors or Lordship of Stebonheath otherwise Stepney and
Hackney in the said County for the Confinement of persons committed
upon process issuing out of the Manor Court only That in the County of
Middlesex there are Seven Goals a Prisons vizt. His Majestys Goal of
Newgate New Prison at Clerkenwell the House of Correction at
Clerkenwell and whitechapel Goal the House of Correction at Tothill
fields and the Gate house both within the City and Liberty of Westmr.
which is in the County of Middlesex and the Goal of the Liberty of the
Tower of London also in the said County of Middlesex

That Your Committee convened before them the Keepers
of the several Goals and Prisons aforesaid, and their Servants and the
Surgeons thereunto belonging; and upon their Examination your Committee
are of Opinion, that, for near four Years last past, or for any other period,
William Smith< no role > , Doctor of Physic hath not attended such Prisoners as
have been confined within that space of time or at any time whatsoever
in the several Goals or Prisons hereafter named vizt. Newgate New
Prison, Clerkenwell Bridewell the Gate house or the Goal of the Liberty
of the Tower of London and have been sick during their Confinement
or hath been at any Expence in respect to the said Sick Prisoners That
in respect to the Doctors attendance on the sick Prisoners in Tothill
fields Bridewell and Whitechapel Goal the respective Keepers thereof
and their Servants gave your Committee the following accounts vizt.
