The Examination of Robert Herd< no role > of Horse Shae Alley Petty france
in the Parish of St. a Margarantt Westminster in the County of Middlesex
Laborour . taken before one Jonathan Durden< no role > Esqr. one of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace for the said County this 29th: day of October 1779
[..] ing on his oath saith that on Wednesday Night between the Hours of Eleven
and twelve o Clock on the 27 Instant he went into a Publick House Known by
the Name of the Black Horse in Petty France Westminster to enquire for a
Lodging the Landlord answered he Could Not Lodge theirs had a Pink of Been
paid for the Same and was going a Way, when a Corpor all belonging to the
52sd: Regiment of foot whose Name is William Webb< no role > . being in the House Draw
his Sword, and Demanded this Deponants Discharge he having been a folding in the he gave it to him
of foot then the said William Webb< no role > Ordered the Landlord of the said Black Horse
to Make Half a Corony worth of Punch, the Punch was Drank and Wm
Webb
< no role > Demanded this Deponant to pay for it, and when the was going
a Way the Said William Webb< no role > knocked him Down in the House and took from
his Breeches Pockett two Guineas and half in Gold, [..] when heComplain
Complained he was Robbed the Landlord Insisted he should go out of Doors, and then went
Away, and this Deponant further saith that he Callid at the Black Horse on
thursday Morning the 28th: and Called for a Pint of Beer the said William Webb< no role > .
being in the House Drew his Sword and Demanded from him half a Crown
for Sitting up late last Night he gave the Landlord half a Guinea to
Change and She Stoped out of the [..] for three potts of Been and this Deponant gave the said William
Webb
< no role > the half Crown he Demanded and Came away, and applyed to an
Officer to take the said William Webb< no role > into Custody
