Read the Order of reference to the Committee Vizt. to take the
Merits of the said Petition into Consideration and report their
Opinion if any and what Compensation shall be made to the
said Edward Hall< no role >
for the Services therein mentioned
Examined an Account of the numbers of Convicts in
the House of Correction
from whence it appears that at the
time Mr. Hall delivered his Petition to the Sessions the
number was Eighty Nine
Examined Mr. Hall who Saith that in consequence of
the number of Convicts in his Custody he hath been obliged for
the safety of their Confinement to employ Two Additional Men at
the Expence of Twelve Shillings per Week and which Expence
he saith must necessarily now increase to Eighteen Shillings
as their whole time will be occupied in that Employment
Resolved It is the Opinion of the Committee that
the Sum of Twenty Five pounds P Ann. for the two years past
ending on the County day of the last Session be allowed to Mr.
Hall for his trouble Care and Expence in managing the Convict
Committed to His Custody
