William Wright< no role > of the Parish of St. Giles without Cripplegate London yeoman maketh oath
and Saith that this Deponts. Employment for many years last past has been to keep possession of
Goods taken under Executions, Comissions of Bankruxties, Bills of Sale, assignments or other Insturmts.
And further Saith That he was Employed by Messrs. Ballard, Hammond & Bowler in the month of
September last and by them and on their Account by Virtue of or under some Deed or Instament
in Writing was put in possession of Goods in a public house called or known by the name or sign
of the Bank of England in King street, Drury lane , in the County of Middx and Continued in possession
til January following and that on or about the 22d. of December next preceeding when the Defendt.
Susannah Cole< no role > being then in the said Public house and also a Bricklayers labourer (whose name
Depont. knows not) Saying as Depont. was informed She the said Cole had dropt from her person or
out of her apron a pewter pot or two on which she as it was Said being Searched by him or
some other Customers then present found another pewter pot upon her but this Depont. saith he
was not present at that time nor did see that transaction which happned in the Tap room
at the time when he was in the Parlour behind the Bar from whnce he could not nor did see
the same but believes the said potts were Part of the Goods belonging to that house and this
Depont. further Saith that on or about the 23d. of December last to the best of his recollection
he was Called on by a person who Said he was a Constable (whose name Depont. dos not know)
& desired him this Depont. to go to the Rotation office in Litchfield Street and Depont. accordingly
went thither and was Examined and gave Evidence of what he knew or was said or told him
as aforesaid Concerning the said Susannah Cole< no role > and who as this Deponent has been lately Informed
and believes been discharged and that he this Depont. at the said Rotation office was bound over
to prosecute and not understanding matters of that nature he cannot Say but Understood
by the Constable or some person at that Office that he this Depont. should have Notice
if he was required to give any further Attendance in the affair and this Depont. saith
that he had not nor at any time did receive from any person whatsoever any Notice or Sub [..]
requiring his Attendance at any place touching the said Susannah Cole< no role > or any matter
Concerning her and Saith that he this Depont. was on or about the 8th. of January last
discharged out and left the possession of the said Public house and thereupon was
Immediately Engaged and put into possession of Goods on a distress for rent at a House
the Sign of the Crown in Crown Court in or near Newgate Street London from whence he was
not discharged til on or after the 19th. of the said Month of January last and did not know
'til lately he was so bound over nor any thing more or Concerning the said Susannah Cole< no role >
or the said Matters other than as aforesaid.
