The Information of Thomas Cater< no role > of Lincolns Inn in the
County of Middlesex Gentleman taken before me one of his
Majestys Justices of the peace for the said County this 18
day of February One thousand Seven hundred Seventy four

This Informant Saith That about ten o Clock in the
morning of Monday the Twenty fourth day of January last
past one Nicolas Mallard< no role > a Foreigner came to the Chambers
of this Informant in Lincolns Inn aforesaid and as his
Charity of him Upon which this Informant gave him
shilling and observing him to shake as this Informant
and with Cold asked him to sit down and Warm
[..] by the Fire which the said Mallard accordingly
[..] That in about five Minutes this Informant
told said Mallard he asked him to go which she did
not seem to regard but in a liked more than live
Minute as this Informant believes after his had
desired him to go as aforesaid the said Mallard seemed
to this Informant to we going out of the Room when
[..] Informant on a said in found himself violently
assaulted by the said Mallard who struck this Informant
several Blows with his Fist and with a large Stone
by which, Blows or one of them this Informant
and one of his Such beat out and had also a Cut upon
this Head And this Informant saith that he did never
give any at of Prosecution to she said Mallard but
does verify believd the said Mallard did design to
murther him and to plunder his Chambers And this
Informant saith that he hath been dangerously ill
in Consequence of the said Assault and Blows and is
still so low and weak an Estate that he verify
[..] she could not without Danger of his Life
that the present Sessions at Hicks Hall to
prosecute the said Mallard

And this Informant farther saith That he is
informed and believes that one Jean Jacque Justinart< no role >
stands committed by Samson Wright< no role > Esqr upon an
Information made before him by this Informants

Brockhurst

Informant is informed and believes sets forth that the
said Justinart Had obtained Money from this Informant
