forasmuch as therewasis no suitable and proper Place for the purpose aforesd. within the said part
of the Parishfor that Purposeexception the West side of the wall of the
Court Yard of Hicks Hall where the Engine House now standsthenstood(or even
there without making use of the said Wall) And that the petitioners anwere
desirous of erecting a Building there according to the Plan to the sd. Petition annexedthereunto
annexedto answer the purpose as well of a Watch house as an Enquire
House whichMany mightmay be of great use in cases of Fire in the Night Time
by having people always in readinessready at Handto give timely Assistance
of the EngineThe Petitioners thereforemost humblyprayed the
