At the General Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden for the County
of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the said County (by Adjournment)
on Thursday the Twentieth day of February in the Twelfth year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord George the Third King of Great Britain Etc Before Saunders Welch< no role >

Esqr & others their fellows Justices of our said Lord the King
Assigned to keep the Peace of our said Lord the King within the said County & also
in the said County

Whereas, the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Shenley in the County of Herts Did at the last General Quarter Session of the
Peace exhibit their Petition and Appeal setting forth That by an Order under
the Hands and Seals of Philip Dyot< no role > and John Cox< no role > Esquires two of His
Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex (one whereof being
of the Quorum) bearing Date the 20th. day of December 1771. Ann Dancer< no role >
Aged about 40 years Widow of John Dancer< no role > deceased and her Three Children
by her late Husband (Viz) John Thomas< no role > Aged five Years, Fanny< no role > Aged Three
years, and Joseph< no role > Aged One Year and Ten Months, were removed from the
Parish of Saint Giles in the Fields in the said County of Middlesex to the
said Parish of Shenley in the County of Hertford as the last legal settlement
of the said Ann Dancer< no role > and of her said Three Children John Thomas< no role > , Fanny
and Joseph Whereby the Petitioners conceived themselves to be aggrieved
which said Appeal was duly Adjourned unto this day Now upon hearing of
the said Appeal and what hath been Alledged on either side by the respective
Churchwardens and Overseers their Council and Witnesses in and concerning
the Promises It is Ordered that the said Pass Warrant or Order of the said
two Justices be and the same is hereby Confirmed And it is further Ordered
that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Shenley in
the said County of Hertford Do maintain and Provide for the said Poor
Woman and her Three Children until they can free themselves from the Charge
thereof by due Course of Law
