Articles of the peace Exhibited by Elizabeth< no role > the Wife
of John Edwards< no role > of Drury Lane in the County of
Middlesex Yeoman against the san John Edwards< no role > at
the General Session of the Peace Holden at Hicks's
Hall in Saint John Street in and for the County
of Middlesex on Monday the Second Day of December
in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of King George the
Third and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven
hundred Seventy One

First


This Exhibitant on her Oath saith that from this
very Many threats and Manners of the said John Edwards< no role >
her Husband she this Exhibitant goes in great danger of
losing her Life and being murdered by him as he has at
sunday times during the course of two Years last past
threatned that he would murder her

Secondly


This Exhibitant saith that she living a part from
her said Husband the said John Edwards< no role > who had used this
Exhibitant very ill be disposing of all his Goods and turning
her our quite destitute he on or after the third day of
December which was in the Year of our Lord One Thousand
seven hundred and Sixty nine came to visct her at her
Lodging in Drury Lane and then stayed in her Company
three hours seemingly very findly and on his going
away came up to this Exhibitant and sayed my Dear
I must kiss you and go home to Bed and instead of
kissing this Exhibitant (and without any prosecution
whatsoever given him by this Exhibitant) the said John
Edwards
< no role > instantly took out of his pocket a Shoemaker's
Knife which he had there concealed and wickedly
wilfully and maliciously cut this Exhibitants Threat
therewith saying there Dawn you for a whose I have
done for you and if I have not row I will do for you
and thereby gave this Exhibitant a Wound on her
Threat of the length of five Inches and of the depth
of half an Inch whereof she Languished in great peril
and danger of losing her life for the space of five Weeks
then next following and as soon as the said John
Edwards
< no role > had so done he ran away out of the House

Thirdly


This Exhibitant saith that sometime in the
Month of May which was in the Year of our Lord
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy the said
