Whereas in and by an Act of Parliament made and passed in the ninth year of
the Reign of his present and Majesty King George the third Intitled "An Act for granting an
"And to his Majesty by a Land tan to be raised in Great Britain for service of the year one
"Thomas Seven hundred & Sixty nine "His among other things Enacted and declared as follows (that
is to say) That if any Collector or Collectors that should by Virtue of that Act by appointed for the Receipt
of any Sum or Sums of money thereby to be assigned in England Wales or Berwick upon Tweed
should refuse or neglect to pay arms Sum or Sums of money which should be by him or them
received as before in the said Act mentioned and to pay the same as in the said Act is directed or shall
detain in his or their hands any money received by him or them or any of them and not pay the same
as by the said Act is directed the Commissioners (for putting the said Act in Execution) of each County City
Riding or Town respectively or any two or more of them in their respective Divisions are thereby
Authorized and Impowered to Imprison the person and seize and Secure the Estate as well Freehold as
Copyhold and all other Estate both real and personal of such Collector to him belonging or which should
descend or come into the hands or possession of his Heirs Executors or Administrators wheresoever the
same can be discovered or found and the said Commissioner who should so seize or secure the
Estate of any Collector or Collectors should be and an thereby Impowered to appoint a time for a
General meeting of the said Commissioners for such County Riding City Town or place and there
to cause publick Notice to be given of the place where such meeting should be appointe Six
days at least before such General meeting and the Commissioners Present at such General
meeting or the major part of them in case the money detained by any such Collector or
Collectors should not be paid and Satisfied as it ought to be according to the Directions of the
said Act should be and are hereby Impowered and required to sell and Dispose of all such Estates
which should be for the Cause aforesaid seized or secured or any part of them to Satisfy and pay into
the hands of he Receive General or two Deputy for such County Riding or place the Sum which
should be detained in the hands of such Collector or Collector their theirs Executors or Administrators
respectively And Whereas John Beales< no role > was on the fourteenth day of June which was in the
year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine duty appointed one of the
Collectors of the Land Tax in and for the Parish of Saint Matthew Bethnall Green in the Division
and County aforesaid And whereas it appeareth unto us whose hands and Seals are hereunto
Subscribed and set Commissioners of the Land tax Acting in and for the said Division that the said
John Beales< no role > in pursuance of such Appointment hath received several Sums of Money of the several
persons named in the Assessment of which he was so appointed Collector amounting in the whole to
the Sum of Four hundred & fifty eight pounds Six Shillings & ten pences
and that he the said John Beales< no role > leath only thereout paid to his Majesty's Receiver General of the
Landwild tax for the said County the Sum of Two hundred & forty five Pounds eighteen Shillings & nine
pence farthingand that there remains in the hands of the said John Beales< no role > of the Monies
so Collected and received by him as aforesaid the Sum of Two hundred & twelve Pounds eight
Shillings & three farthingsWhich the said John Beales< no role > now detaine in his hands
and hath refused or neglected to pay the same as by the said Act is directed Notwithstanding
repeated Notices to him given for that purpose

These are therefore in his Majesty's NameStrictly to enjoin and Command you to Imprison
the person and Seize and secure the Estate as well Freehold as Copy hold and all other Estate both
real and Personal of the said John Beales which belonging or which shall descend or
come into the hands or Possession of his their Executor or Administrators whereon the
same can be discovered refound and what you shall so do in the premises you an to
return to us and other the Commissioners Acting for the said Divisions at the Angel and
Gown Tavorn in Whitechapel on Wednesday the Twelfth day of September next evening at
Ten o' Clock in the forenoon and for so doing this shall be your Sufficient Warrant Given
under our hands and Seals this Twenty Ninth day of August 1770
