How comes it that more Felons die than
Dobtors if Sickliness of Gaol is Want of
Air ?

of Sessions
at Order most & being
any Distemper'd
prisoners to Newgate


Frequently prisoners (Felons) brot. from other
Gaols distempered & we are liable to their
Distempers as Well as our ownNot
altogether from those but from our Own &
those together.

Whether if an Area of Ground was borght &
added to the Gaol for prisoners to Air, it
would tend to their Health ?

It might be some benefit But the Walls
are so Rethen spurgy damp & bad that it
would not care it.

Have you kept any Account of persons

Is the Coroners or Jurors Why of coming
to view Bodies die ?

Coroner or Jurors ?

No Don't recollect any

Has Coroner attended in person or by Deputy ?

By Deputy.

Did you ever hear that the Coroner refused to
attend ?

if works Kept clean
ward they refuse ?


He has refused to go into the Cells &
applied to Court of Aldermen & said he must
give up his place if he was obliged to go into
the Wards.

If the Gaol was rebuilt whether a great No:
of physicians & Apothecaries would not refuse
to attend ?

Not so Commonly as they do now.

Whether Many Apothecaries who refuse now
would not attend if it was made Commodions
and Lealthy ?

I believe there would.
