Informations of Witnesses taken & Acknowledged
on behalf of our Sovereign Ld. the King
touching the Death of Ckrr. Took at the Sign
of the black Lion at Salt- [..] -bank in the
Parish of St. Mary Matfellon otherwise
Whitechapel in the County of Middx on the
29th. Sepr 1760 before Edwd. then freville One of
the Coroners of the sd. County on an Inquisi-
-tion then & there taken on View of the Body
of the sd. Xr. Toole< no role > then & there lying dead
as follow to wit

Mary Clarke< no role > at Mr. Farrells at Salt Petre Bank Wid . [..]
That last Fryday Night she was at Mrs. Kennedys the black
Boy next door to where the deced now lies-she was by [..] herself
drinking a pint of Beer in the public Room-That the Decd.
& Tom Maxwell< no role > both Sailors were by themselves drinking
a frot of Beer-That Joseph Bennett< no role > a Portuguese, Anthony
de Silva
< no role > & One Mannwille likewise Portugalse were in
Compa. togr. in the same public Room drinking also a
Birt of BeerThat Sarah Murray< no role > came afterwards into
the Room & said to the Deced That Joseph Bennett< no role > was
going to lick her, upon wch. the Deced who had a great
Oak Stick in his hand, withh. speaking a Word made
a Blow at Jo: Bennett & hit his Hatt offThat the Blow
was upwards & the Hatt only tip't off withh. other intencon
to hurt himThat Jo: Bennett< no role > withh. speaking a Word
took up his Hatt & put it on his head-That quickly [..]
the Deced raised his Stick again & made a Blow at Antony
de Silva & beat the pipe out of his hand-upon wch.
Antony Swore & ask'd the Deced why he knock'd the
Pipe out of his hand-That the Deced gave no Answer
That all the Portuguese went out togr. at the back door
& went into Betty Bills< no role > House & the Witness saw Pos: Bennett
