Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the Said Parish of St. James for the time
being the sum of two Shillings and six pence of like lawful money by the Week Weekly and
every Week from the day of the Dale of the said Order for and towards the Keeping
sustenation and maintenance of the said Child for and during so long time as the said
Female Bastard Child should continue and be a charge and burthen on the said Parish
And Lastly they the said Justices did Order that the said William Ward< no role > on Notice of that their
said Order (a true Copy being Delivered unto him) do forthwith put in a sufficient Surety
for the performance of that their said Order or else personally to appear at the next
General Quarter Sessions of the peace to be holden in and for the said City and Liberty then
and there to abide such Order as the Justices of the peace. or the Major part of them then
and there present should think fit to make in that behalf Against which said
recited Order the said William Word exhibited his Petition and Appeal unto his
Majesties Justices of the peace assembled at the present General Quarter Session of the
Peace holden for the said City and Liberty on Wednesday the Sixteenth day of October
Instant And Whereas by an Order made at the said present General Quarter
Session of the peace holden for the said City and Liberty on the said Wednesday the Sixteenth
day of October instant it was Ordered that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor
of the said Parish of St. James within the Liberty of Westmr. and all other persons
concerned should attend this Court on Friday then next being the Eighteenth day of this
instant October at ten of the clock in the forenoon to answer the said Petition and to
abide the final determination of this Court in the premisses Now upon hearing of
what was insisted upon by Council for the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of
the said Parish of St. James within the Liberty of Westmr. And also by Council for the
said William Ward< no role > and upon Examination of the said Catherine Bennit< no role > upon Oath
touching the premisses His Court is of opinion that the said William Word is the
putative Father of the said Female Bastard Child and doth thereupon disallow of the
said Appeal And doth Ratify and Confirm the aforesaid Order of the said two Justices
of the peace And the same is hereby Ratified and Confirmed accordingly

by the Court
