At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Sovereign Lord the King holden for
the County of Middx at Hicks Hall in St. John Street in the County aforesaid by adjournment on
Thursday the twenty fifth day of April in the twenty seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign
Lord George the second King of Great Britain Etc before Thomas Lane< no role > Richard Ricards< no role >
Walter Berry< no role > George Garrett< no role > Esquires and others their Follows Justices of our said
Lord the King assigned to keep the Peace in the County aforesaid and also to hear and
determine divers Feloines Trespasses and other Misdeeds committed in the same County.

Whereas Alexander Layel< no role > exhibited his humble Petition unto this Court at this
present General Quarter Session of the Peace holden for the County of Middx by adjournment
on Tuesday the twenty third day of April instant Setting forth That by Indentures of
Apprenticeship bearing date the twenty ninth day of September One thousand seven
hundred and fifty three the Petitioner was bound Apprentice to Robert Noyes< no role > of the
Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell in the said County Carver for the Space of
Seven years And that the Petitioners Brother John Layel< no role > paid as a Counderation
to the said Robert Noyes< no role > al the time of the Executing of the said Indentures the
Sum of Ten pounds and gave his Bond for payment of the further Sum of Ten
pounds when the Petitioner should have served half of the said Term And that
the Petitioner's said Master Robert Noyes< no role > hath very frequently taken him and his
Fellow Apprentice into Gardens belonging to other Persons to pilfer Trees that
were growing Flower Roots and Box for Borders and divers other things till
at length the Petitioner began to apprehend the fatal Consequences that might
result from such unjust Proceedings and therefore the Petitioner applied to his
Friends to interpose in his favour to prevent his Destruction And the
Petitioner therefore most humbly prayed this Court to discharge him from his
said Indentures of Apprenticeship and to order that his said Master may
return part of the said Ten pounds Consideration money and deliver up the said
Bond executed by the Petitioners said Brother as aforesaid in order to be
cancelled Whereupon it was by an Order made by this Court on the said twenty
third day of April instant ordered by this Court that the said Robert Noyes< no role > should
have Notice of the said & Petition and that he and all Parties concerned should
attend this Court on this present Thursday the twenty fifth day of April instant
at ten of the Clock in the Forenoon to hear and abide the Judgment and
Determination of this Court touching the Matters contained in the said
Petition, the aforesaid Session Being now on the same day holden by
