The Voluntary Examination of Confession
of Abraham Brunker< no role > taken before us
Two of his Maties Justices of the peace
for the same County this 16th. day of
February 1754

This Examinant Confesseth and saith that on
Monday Night last he went to Lodge at the
House of one Richard Hedge< no role > at Clapton in
the Parish of St. John at Hackney
the County of Middx being recommended there,
And saith that abt. Nine of the Clock of ye same
Evening he went to the said Mr. Hedge's House
where he this Examinant was shown to his Chamber,

& immediately went to Bed & fell into a Sound Sleep
& continued in it till about seven the ensuing
Morning, And hath been a Lodger with the said
Mr. Hedges ever since, And this Examinant
further confesseth, that he came home to his said
Lodgings abt. Ten of the Clock last Night and
went up Stairs to Bed & siting down upon ye Bed
& undressing himself he saw a Drawer belonging
to a Chest of Drawers standing in the said Chamber
a little open & a Bunch of Keys hanging to
the same, which lead this Examints Curiosity to
look into the same Drawer, where he perceived
a Quantity of half pence & Bag, which Bag this
Examinant took & put the same under the Pillars
And next Morning carried the said Bag & what
was Contained there in away with him, part of with
this Examinant laid out in Apparel upon
himself & rock bag and about three pounds Seventeen Shillings
contained the coin dropt from this Examinants Bosom this Morning
in Shoreditch , which said Bag and Money was produced
