Stephen Freeman< no role > of the parish of St. Giles in the Fields in the County of Middx
Victualler maketh Oath and saith that same time in the Month of December
in the Year of our Lord 1752. He together with another person be same bound
in a Recognizance before Philip Dyot< no role > Esqr . One of his Majestys Justices of
the peace for the said County of Middlesex for the Appearance of One Joseph
Chapwell
< no role > at the then next General Quarter Session of the peace to be held
for the said County to plead to an Indictment against him And this Depont
further saith that he hath not soon her hath been able to find out the said
Joseph Chappell< no role > the this Depont. for that purpose in Order to bring him to
the Session to plead to the Said Indictment has used his utmost Endeavour
for more than a Year last past and particularly hath Inquired for him at
his Lodgings in Browns Gardens at the House of one Mr. Gibbons a
Coachmaker where he was Informed the said Joseph Chappell< no role > was gone
away from thence and they could not toll where to find him And this Depont.
Further saith that within this twelve Months last past he hath several times
inquired after him of his Daughter who hath Married One John Rowsell< no role >
a Butcher in Long Acre which th Deponent Apprehended to be the most likely
place to see him or hear of him and the said Mr. Rowsellsaid he
was gone into the County but she did not know where to send to him And
also this Depont. inquired for him several times of One Mr. Sears a Brooches
maker near little Turn Stile Holborn an Intimate acquaintance of the said
Joseph Chappell< no role > and the said Sears told this Depont. that he was gone off but
Could not tell where to find him And this Depont. further saith that in Order
to find out the said Joseph Chappell< no role > this Depont. Some long time since
Applied to One James Means< no role > who is a Dealer in Horses and goes to
divers Fairs and who knows the said Joseph Chappell< no role > and promised the
said Means Two Guineas if he could find him out and send this Depont. word
And this Depont. along while age applied to One Alexander Hill< no role > a Master
Shoemaker in Cranburn Alley who goes also to divers Fairs and who knows the
said Joseph Chappell< no role > who promised this Depont. that if he could find him he
would let this Depont. know And this Depont. further saith that he hath mad [..]
divers Applications to divers other persons for the like purpose but not withstanding
Which and the utmost Endeavours he could Use he hath not been able to find out
the said Joseph Chappell< no role > And lastly this Depont. further Saith that he will
continue to Use his Utmost Endeavours to find the said Joseph Chappell< no role > out in
Order to bring him to the Session to plead to the said Indictments
