Depositions touching the Death of Susanah Jenkins< no role >
Killd by her Husband Richd: Jenkins< no role > at the parish of St. Mary
White Chaple Taken before John King< no role > Esqr . One of the Coroners
for the County of Middlesex the 19th: day of April 1753.

Sarah< no role > the Wife of Edward Oxley< no role > of Court Street White Chaple Labourer
Maketh Oath & Saith that on Monday the 16th: day of April 1753 . Betwixt
One & Two o Clock in the afternoon Susanah Jenkins< no role > came to this Deponts.
house & desired a dish of Tea for that her Husband had used her Ill, And she
had neither House nor home to go to, further Says that the sd. Susanah
Jenkins had not been long at her house, before Richard Jenkins< no role > came
& was let in his wife Susanah, who said to him Mr. Jenkins how do
you do, upon which he sd. Damm yr. Eyes you bitch I will do for you
for you sent the Bayliffs after me; Says then the sd. Susanah set down
by the fire, And then Richd. Jenkins made a Motion as if he was going
to strike her, which made her get up and stand with her back towards
the Chain, And then this Deponent saw him strike her either with his
double fist or open hand upon the side of her head, And at then meteing
said to her you bitch take off that pockett, Upon which she cut it of
& threw it dow & sd. there it it, but there is not a farthing in it only a
parcell of rags, Says then he damd her Eyes & sd. that he had rather see
her dead than alive this Depont. further says that he then went to her
again & put his hands round her Neck as if he was going to Kiss her
and presently this Depont. saw her Eyes turn and look very Odd and at the
same time She saw her Arms drop down and Motionless; Upon which this
Depont. sd. you Judas Son of a bitch I believe you have Killed your Wife
And or seeing of her look so she went for some drops & left him with his
hands about her Neck & throat and at the same time Damd this Deponts.
blood & sd. it was no business of hers, further Says that there was a Pson
sent for to bleed her for which the sd. Richd gave him a Shillings, And
that she bled very well but never Spoke afterwards tho' in Pfect health
before And that she lived for abt. 11 hours & then dyed; Says that he did
not offer to go away but his being hangd he did not mind that, duty that
the Surgeons would have his Body
