The Examination and Confession of
Mungo Chrystie< no role > late a Sailor on Board
the Jubilie Merchant Man Peter
Blommart
< no role > Commander now lying in the
River Thames of Rotherhith Stairs , taken
this 31st. day of January 1753 before me One
of his Maties Justices of the Peace of ye
said County

This Examinant Confesseth and saith that he was on
Board the aforesd. Ship Jubilie Saturday last, and
that about Twelve of the Clock at Noon he this
Examinant went into the Cabin to look after the fire, &
looking about the same Cabin saw a Bottle on a Table & drank
a Dram out of it (wch was Hollands Gin) and soon after
Perceiving a Chest open in the said Cabin this Examinant
took a Pair of Velvet Breeches thereout & shaking
them found something Rattle in the Pockets, and this
Examinant searching took out of the Pockets Six Guineas
in Gold & some Silver wch he put into ye Pockets
again, and went forward to look after the Victuals that
was dressing, and then returned into the Cabin [..]
where this Examinant took another Dram and
immediately after feloniously stole and took from
out of the Breeches Pockets aforesd. the abovementioned
Six Guineas and Silver and a pair of Silver knee Buckles And then this Examint. hearing
the Clicking of a Watch searched for it and found the same
in the Till of the said Chest, wch this Examinant likewise
feloniously Stole took and Carried away from on
Board the said Ship, And that no Person whatsoever
was concerned wth. this Examint. in the aforesd. Felony
