[..] ts Indenture Witnelleth, ThatThomas Raby< no role > of the Parish of
St. James's Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex
doth put h [..] self Apprentice [..] John Ward< no role > of the parish of St Giles's
the Fields in the County aforesaid peruke Maker and Barber
to learn his Art, and with him after the Manner of an Apprentice, to Serve
from theday of the [..] here ofunto
the full End and Term ofSevenYears, from thence next Ensuing, and
fully to be compleat and orded. During which Term, the said Apprentice his
Said Masterfaithfully Shall and will serve, his Secrets keep, hislawfull Commandments every where
gladly do. HeShall do no Damage to hisSaidMasternor see to be done of others but to his
Power shall let or forthwith give Notice to his saidMasterof the same: The Goods of his Said Master
h 8 shall not waste, nor lend them unlawfully to any hurt to his Said Masterh 9. Shalt not do, cause
or procure to be done; heShall neither Buy nor Sell without his Mastersleave. Taverns, Inns, or
Alehouses h9 Shall not haunt. At Cards, Dice, Tables, or any other unlawful Game h9Shall not play,
nor from the Service of his
said Master Day nor Night shall absent him self, but in all Things as an honest and faithful Apprentice,
shall, and an demean, and behave him self towardhissaid Masterand all hisdiving all the said
Term. And the SaidMaster
The Artwhich h9now useth, Shall teach and instruct, or cause to be taught and instructed,
the best way and manner that h9can, finding and allowing unto hissaid Apprentice Sufficient Meat,
Drink,Washing, Lodging, [..] , during the said Term,
And for the true Performance of all and every the Covenants and Agreements aforesaid, either of the said
Parties bindethhimself unto the other firmly by these Presents. In mitness whereof, the Parties above
said to these Indentures interchangeably have Set their Hands and Seals, theTwenty ThirdDay ofJanuary
in theThirdYear of the Reign of our SovereignLord George the Secondsby the Grace of
God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland,KingDefender of the Faith, Etc. Annoq, Dom. 1729
