Nicolas Corner< no role > of St: Mary Magdalen Bermondsea Surrey Gent
Deft: in this Cause, and James Baker< no role > of Fleet street London Hosier , do Severally
make Oath. And first Nicolas Corner for himself maketh Oath that he hath
made Diligent Enquiry after Sr: Roger Meredith< no role > Baront : & Knit of the Shire
for ye County of Kent , and this Depont is Informed & verily believes it to be
true, that the said Sr: Roger Meredith< no role > is a great Distance from Town, by
which reason he could not possibly be had to Attend this Tryall. And that this
Depont likewise hath made Diligent Search & Enquiry after Charles Farer
& cannot find him. And James Basker for himself saith that he this Dept
hath within these few Days last past made all Diligent Search after
Gilbert Douglas< no role > Esqr: at his abode in ye Old Palace yard Westmr, & at
other ye usuall places of Resort of the said Mr Douglas, and this Dept: is
Informed & verily believes it to be true, that ye said Mr Douglas is out
of Town [..] & hath been for Same time, but where this Dept: could
not Learn, and this Depont further with that he made likewise a diligent
Search after one Eleanor Meredith late a Servant in ye Old Palace yard
Westmr: and this Depont: saith that he could not find out where ye said Eleanor
Meredith lives or can be heard off. And Nicolas Corner for himself further
saith that the Above Named Sr Roger Meredith, Gilbert Douglas< no role > Esqr,
Charles Fraser< no role > & Eleanor Meredith< no role > , are materiall Witnesses lin this
Cause and without whome to is advised he can not safely proceed to
Tryall
