The Humble peticon & Appeal
of James Edwards< no role > of the parish
of Edmonton in this County

Sheweth


That by Warrant under the Hands and
Seals of James Colebrooke< no role > and William Gould< no role > Esqrs
two of his Majties: Justices of the Peace for this
County bearing Date the [..] Fourth day of this instant
April Yor. Petr. was appointed to be one of the Overseers of
ye poor of the sd parish of Edmonton for ye year now
ensuing;

That Yor. Petr. is a Servt . to the Honble. the
New River Company, and lives in a House wth in ye
sd parish belonging to the sd Company, And that he
never payd Rent or Taxes for the same (for ten
years last past and upwards) only for under behalfe
of the sd Company; And that it never has been
Customary for any of the sd Company Servants (in ye
Capacity of yor. Petr.) to serve any parish or Ward
Office:

Yor. Petr. therefore finding himselfe
aggrieved by the sd Wart. of Appointmts. humbly
Appeals agts the same

And Prays yor. Worsps would be
pleased to Discharge yor. Petr. from
the sd Office, and that some other
person of the sd parish of Edmonton
may be appointed Overseer of the
poor of the sd parish in the room of
yor. petr.

And yor. Petr. shall ever pray Etc
