In Pursuance of the Annexed Order of Sessions We whose names
are hereunto Subscribed his Majties: Justices of the peace for the County
of Middlesex, did, upon reading the objections laid before us by the
Petitioners and Appellants in the Said Order mentioned and hearing
their Arquments thereupon, proceed to Examine the Churchwarden
Overseer of the poor and Beadle of the Parish of St: James Clerkenwell
in the Said County, who appeared before us and readily answered to
every Objection and Complaint to our full Satisfaction

The Petitioners complain that the Overseers of the poor of
the Said Parish of St: James Clerkenwell for the year One thousand
Seven hundred and twenty four have left in Arrear and uncollected
of the poors Rate the Sum of Three hundred and Twelve pounds
and two Shillings and that the mony Assessed on the Said Overseers
themselves are part of the Said Arrears, to which the Said Officers
replyed [..] that the mony rated on themselves Should be paid
to the present Overseers before this Report could be finished, and
deliver'd into Court, and as to the remaining part of the Said
Arrears uncollected they answer'd that being under Some difficulty
in making the Said Rate, they unwarily assessed Some persons
whom they found upon Enquiry not able to pay nor having any
goods whereon a distress could be made: Yet for their further
Justification they procured a Distress warrant against all the
persons so in Arrear, and deliver'd the Same over to their
Successors the present Overseers of the Said Parish, that if any of
the Said persons be found capable they may be compelled in a
legall way
