Whereas due Proofe hath been made before us John Fuller< no role > and Alexander Ward< no role > Esqrs : two
of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the County of Middx (Quor Unus) Inhabiting in and near
the Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell in the said County upon the Oath of Elizabeth Whittmer< no role > Single
-woman Mother of a Male Bastard Child borne the Twenty Nineth day of March last past in the
said Parish and Christened (Issac< no role > ) That Isaac Skelton< no role > liveing [..] near Saint Marys Hill near
Billinsgate in the City of London Vintner did begett on the Body of the said Elizabeth Whittmer< no role > the
said Male Bastard Child, which said Child is now Chargeable to the said Parish of which the Church-
wardens and Overseers of the Poor thereof have Complained, We the said Justices upon the Examination
of the said Elizabeth Whittmer< no role > touching the Father of the said Child and other Convinceing Circumstances
Us, hereunto Moveing Doe hereby adjudge and Declare the said Isaac Skelton< no role > to be the Reputed
Father of the said Male Bastard Child born of the Body of the said Elizabeth Whittmer< no role > as before
-mentioned, And thereupon We do Order as well for the releife and to Save harmless and keep
Indemnified the said Parish as for the Maintaineing and Keeping the said Male Bastard Child That
the said Isaac Skelton< no role > shall Forthwith on Sight of this our Order (a True Copy thereof being first delivered to
him) Pay or Cause to be paid unto the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
Saint James Clerkenwell all such Sum and Sumes of Money as they have laid out and Expended for
and on Account of the said Bastard Child not Exceeding Tenn Shillings P Week for the four last weeks
From the Birth of the said Child for the Monthly Lyeing Inn, of the said Elizabeth Whittmer< no role > and also
Five Shillings to the Midwife and after the Expiration of the said first four Weeks the said Isaac Skelton< no role >
Shall Likewise pay or cause to be Paid the Sum of Two Shillings and Six pence of Lawfull Money of Great
Brittaine, weekly, for and Towards the reliefe and Maintainance of the said Male Bastard Child for so
long time as the said Child shall be Chargeable to the said Parish, And Lastly We do Order that
the said Isaac Skelton do forthwith give Sufficient Security to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell for the True Performance of this our Order, Otherwise to
find Sufficient Surities for his Personall Appearance at the next General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, to be
holden for the said County of Middx there to Answer his Contempt and to Abide such further Order
as the Court shall think fitt to make therein Given under our hands and Seals this Nineth day
of Aprill Anno Domini 1720 .
