Complaint being made unto this Court that George
Bowyer
< no role > Clerke to Richard Hilton< no role > Esqr . late one of his
Maties. Justices of the peace for this County did dureing
the time the said Mr. Hilton [..] continued in his
said Office of a Justice of peace of the said County
receive diverse considerable Sumes of money of
severall persons convicted before the sd Mr. Hilton
for prophanely swearing or curseing, exerciseing
their trades or employmts. on the Lords day, for selling
beer or ale in short or Unsealed measures, or without
licence, for setting buttons on cloaths made of the
same cloath or stuffe the cloaths were made of, for
selling goods as Hawkers & Pedlers without due
licences, and for severall. other offences by vertue of
the Laws in such cases made & provided, And that the
offences for which such persons were convicted [..]
aforesaid being comitted within the parish of st. Giles
in the fields in this County divers considerable sumes
of money became thereupon forfeited & payable to
the use of the poor of the said parish, of which the
said George Bowyer< no role > hath not yet given any
accompt to his Maties. Justices of the peace for this County
inhabiting within the said parish or to the Churchwardens
or Overseers of the poor thereof tho' he hath been required
