Wee whose hands and Seals are hereunto sett Two of Her Maties: Justices of the
Peace for the County of Middlesex (one whereof being of the Quorum) and Inhab [..]
within the limits of the parish Church of the Parish of St: Giles in the Fields in
Said County haveing mett together and heard the complaint of the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the Said Parish of St. Giles in the Fields concerning
Female Bastard Child born in the Said parish on the body of Mary Corbet< no role > [..]
on the eighteenth day of this instant month of November which is Baptised
Arabella and< no role > hath ever since the birth thereof been chargable to the Said
parish and Soe likely to continue, Doe find upon Examination of the Said
Mary Corbet taken upon Oath as also upon the Oath of Ann Ager< no role > who was
present and assisting to the Said Mary Corbet in her travaile and delivery [..]
the Said Female Bastard Child, That Lewis Dubois< no role > of Hemings row in the
parish of St Martin in the Fields in the County aforesaid Glover , Did begett
on the body of her the said Mary Corbet the Said Female Bastard Child, And
doe adjudge him the Said Lewis Dubois the reputed father thereof, And
doe Order and appoint him the Said Lewis Dubois forthwith upon notice of
this Our Order to pay to the Said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor
or to Some or one of them the Sume of Forty Shillings of good and Lawfull
money of Great Britain towards defraying the charge of the said parish
of st Giles in the Fields for releife of the Said Female Bastard Child for
the first Four Weeks after the birth thereof And for the charge of her
lying in As also that he the said Lewis Dubois Shall weekly and every
weeke afterwards pay unto the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor or to Some or one of them two Shillings and Six pence of like
Lawfull money for and towards the releife and maintainance of the
Said Female Bastard Child for Soe long time as the Said Female
Bastard Child Shall remain chargable to the said parish, And of and
from the charge thereof at all times hereafter shall Save harmless and
indemnifie the Said parish of st Giles in the Fields, And forthwith give
Sufficient Securitie to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said
Parish of st Giles in the Fields for the performance of this our Order or appear
at the next Generall Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be holden for the Said
County then and there to abide Such Order as the Justices of the Peace or the
more part of them Shall take in that behalfe Given under our hands and
Seals the twenty Seaventh day of November Anno Dui 1713
