The Bearer hereof Edward Scruton< no role > Mason is my heigh
bour and is an honest quiet peaceable man, he became bound for
an insolvent neighbour of his, and it seems was Sued and execution
served on his goods, and the debt is all payd as he tells me, and
he and the rest (who were bound) are discharged, but dureing the
time the Bayliff was in possession, it seems a Slow and a
few other goods which were not his own, were fetch'd by the
Owners off his promised and now tho the debt is fully Satis
fied without these goods, the Bayliff hath indicted him at
the suit of the Sherilse for carrying off these good's, and a
bill of indictment was found against him yesterday as
he informes me. But the reason as he Sayes is that
the Bayliff insists an 40s, tho all Fees (and those extra
vagant) are also payd; this is a great a buse and an hard
shipp on the man who is very poor. Please to represent
this to the Bench, and gett him discharged if you came
if not I prosume he must traverse the indictment, and
I hope his Smge recognizance will be taken, I troubles
you with this, by reason the poor man is not able to foo
Councell, for which I begg Your parden, My misfortune
hath made me unfilt to appear in publick, and indeed
very unactive I am

Yr Humble Servant
Jo: Plumer< no role > .
