Upon reading the humble peticon of the Churchwardens
and Oveseers of the poor of the pish of St. James Clerkenwell in this
County exhited out [..]
under the hands & seales of St. James [..]
Smith Esqr. two of his Maties. Justices of the peace for this County
(Quor unus) dated the twentieth day of July last one
Elizabeth Combes< no role > a poor [..] pson with her three Children
who had been chargeable to the petrs. were passed and
conveyed from their said Pish to the Pish of Finchley in this
County (where they were last legally setled) & were delivered
to the Overseers of the poor there which said Overseers
of the poor have refused to receive & Pvide for the said
Elizabeth Combes< no role > & her said three Children pursuant to
the said recited Order of the said two Justices but on the
contrary have sent them back to the petrs. where they
were remaine chargeable with out appealeing regularly
to this Court agt. the said recited Order & praying that
this Court would order the Churchwardens & Overseers of
the poor of the said Pish o Finchley to attend this Court
to shew cause why they should not receive back the
said Elizabeth Combes< no role > & her said three children and
pay the penalty of five pounds [..]
humbly conceive) they have forfeited for such their
contempt & returneing the said Elizabeth Combes< no role > and
her said three children to the petrs. without appealeing
to this Court as aforesaid Now upon hearing of the
said Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor of Finchley
in the prsence of the petrs and what was alledged by
Councell on either side Itt is thought fitt & ordered by
this Court that the appeal concerning the last legall
