The Examinacon of Mary Batson< no role > wife of
Brian Batson< no role > Haberdasher of Hath taken
the 7th of June 1695

This Examt. confesseth that She hath lived in her house in the Strand
for abt. seven yeares & that She herd her husband did usually
lye in the Roome [..] with in the Shop was a bed at the tyme the
Constable Came to Search the Sd Roome & that her husband
did use from the Sd bed abt. 7 a Clock this morning but
denyes that She Knew anything of the Inner Cupboard at
the bed feet from whence the bullion & Sheires & Files were
taken she confesseth that she did give the Constable
the key of the said Cupboard but said she know
not of the Secret Cupboard nor of the Bullion
nor things found there;
that her husband has been in troubles of late there
goods having been in danger of Seizing
that tho' there is no Stock of Rats yet Gentleman
of his acquaintance used to buy hatts of him said
that Mr. Maude the Lord Cheif Justices Clarke was
there yesterday and Mr. Holland the [..]
[..] that the Charcole [..] in because she
[..] same of long from [..]
That said they have used [..]
one Mr. Bay by formerly a god [..] and now a
Captain gone to Hardey treat he [..] about
Four Months [..] her they had any [..]
Since said that some times her husband had the [..]
the Cupboard & Sometimes it stood upon and [..]
that her husband gave her the key of the Cupboard about
two dayes Since,
