Whereas by an Act of Parliament, intituted, An Act for ordering the Forces in the
several Counties of this Kingdom; Power and Authority is given to his Majesty's
Lieutenants, and Deputy Lieutenants, or any three or more of them, to lay
yearly the fourth part of one Month's Assessment upon each County, after the
Rate of seventy thousand Pounds by the Month for furnishing Ammunition
and other Necessaries as in and by the said Act, as also by one Other Act of
parliament, intituled, An Additional Act for the better Ordering the Forces in
the several Counties of this Kingdom, is directed and appointed. These are
therefore in his Majesty's Name to require and command you to make an equal
Assessment (by a Pound Rate, as formerly) of the Sum of twenty nine pounds
Sixteen Shillings and Eight pence (being for one Year, from the 24th of June
last) upon all Lands, Tenements, Hereditments, Annuities, Rents, Parks,
Warrens, Fee Farm Rents, Goods, Chattels, Stock, Merchandize, Offices usually
rated, Tolls, profit, and all other Estates, both Real and personal, within the
Limits, Circuits, and Rounds of youraforesaid, and you are to take
care that no part of the said Assessment be rated or impos'd upon any person
not being of ability to pay the same or be extended to charge any Master, Fellow,
or Scholar of any College in either of the Universities, or in the College of
Westminster , Eaton, or Winchester, or in any other Free Schools, or any Reader
Officer, or Minister of the said Universities, Colleges, or Schools, or of any
Hospitals, or Alms Houses, for or in respect of any Stipend, Wages, or Profit
whatsoever arising or growing due to them in respect of the said several places
& Employments in the said Universities, Colleges, Schools, Hospitals, or
Alms Houses, nor to charge any of the Houses or Lands belonging to Christ's
Hospital, St. Bartholomew, Bridewell , St. Thomas, and Bethlem Hospitals,
in the City of London and Borough of Southwark , or any of them, for or in
respect of any Rents or Revenues payable to the said Hospitals, nevertheless.
You are to Assess the Tenants of all such Lands or Houses, for so much as the same
are Yearly worth ever-and-above the Rents reserved and payable to the
said Hospitals. Two Books of which assessment fairly written, exactly cast
up, and sign'd by you, together with the Names of two or more fit persons
to be Collectors thereof, you are to bring unto us, unto our Court in the Lettle
Piazza in Covant Garden on Saterday the fourth day of November next
at ten of the Clock in the forenoon hereof you may not fail, upon pain of
Twenty pounds. Dated this fourth day of October Anno Domini 1721.

On the back of the last recited Warrant are endorsed the words Following
